Library Living

Libraries are intricately woven into my life, whether I’m researching one, borrowing books from another, or writing the Chronicles of the Library of Illumination. I also love design, thanks to an old college roommate, so when I saw this Houzz article about renovating a small library into a home, I was intrigued. Take a look.

The Marketing Bind Marketing can be an author’s best friend and worst enemy. Investing time and energy in marketing and promotion - sells books. That’s what’s good about it. It also cuts deeply into a novelist’s writing time. That’s what’s bad about it. There are tweets and updates, giveaways on Goodreads and Wattpad, interacting with LinkedIn groups and emailing readers, writers, and resources. So much to do, so little time. Ever since I jumped on the marketing bandwagon to promote Evangeline’s Ghost, I haven’t added a word to my YA fantasy series. The first Chronicles of the Library of Illumination is currently being edited, and is on track for release on February 4th, 2014. It’s not affected by my temporary shortage of writing time. But the second Chronicles certainly will be if I don’t settle on a schedule that lets me do both jobs at the same time. I hope it’s only a learning curve. I wish I could clone myself. Then I could get everything done at the same time. Two clones would be even better. If Siegfried Feuermacht could do it, why can’t I? If you don’t know who Siegfried Feuermacht is, my marketing isn’t working very well, because it means you haven’t read Evangeline’s Ghost. That’s unfortunate for me, because I spent an awful lot of time and money marketing that book.

Evangeline's Ghost

Evangeline’s Ghost

It’s October 1st, 2013, so It’s official.

Evangeline’s Ghost is now available as a trade paperback and ebook on Kindle. That’s not to say it hasn’t been available for the past two weeks. I made the colossal mistake of thinking that if I set up the book on Amazon and listed October 1st as the date of publication, the book wouldn’t show up until today, but no such luck. It showed up on Amazon immediately. So it’s out there. I like to think of it as part of my learning curve. You may even be able to score a free copy if you’re a member of Goodreads.

Now, it’s time to invest my resources in publishing Chronicles: The Library of Illumination which is scheduled to be released on February 4th, 2014.
